2025 Goals: Reflecting on the Past Few Months

Happy New Year!  I would like to start the year off with a little reflection, then share my goals for 2025. REFLECTION I spent a lot of time in 2024 reading through the Bible. I read the Bible a total of 2 times. I started in January 2024 with the Bible Recap plan, then fell off about 3 or 4 months in. I was looking at other plans to finish the Bible in short amounts of time, and found the 90 Day Bible Challenge book by Mary DeMuth. It was great, but after about 2 weeks into the plan I quickly got burnt out since I was listening to it constantly. So, I decided to pick back up on the Bible Recap even though I was technically about 5 months behind at this point. During the time I picked it back up, something was lit inside of me that gave me this HUNGER and DESIRE to read MORE of the Word of God! Suddenly the 3-4 chapters a day was not enough to satisfy my spirit. So I did some calculations and decided to quadruple up so I could finish the plan by the end of the year as I prev...

I Read the Bible in 30 Days… My Experience Doing the 30 Day Shred by Nathan Finochio

Image
I read the entire Bible in 30 days! Here are my thoughts and reflections… *** I want to put a disclaimer here:   You do NOT need to read the Bible multiple times in a year to be a “good” Christian. Reading the Bible is not about how fast you can read it or how many times you can read it in a set amount of time. Reading the Bible is about QUALITY not quantity, letting it sink deep and take root! I want to start out by saying that I wasn’t going to initially attempt to read the Bible in 30 days. The plan was to complete a 90 Day plan. BUT, after I had started the 90 day plan, I saw that there was a 30 Day plan that people really enjoyed and that sparked this deep urge to try the 30 Day Shred by Nathan Finochio. I am a stay at home mom of 2 small children and expecting a 3rd in 2 months so this seemingly impossible task was definitely not on my radar. However, I reviewed my screen time and found that I was averaging 5-6 hours a day on my phone! I quickly looked up how long the averag...

Bible Reading Plan Series: The Bible Recap- Read the Bible Chronologically in a Year!

Image
It’s called The Bible Recap by Tara Leigh Cobble. This is a one year chronological Bible reading plan, and it pairs with a daily podcast and/or devotional to help you better understand what you’re reading. This plan consists of 3-5 chapters of reading per day that goes through the entire Bible in chronological order over the course of one year. The companion podcast (The Bible Recap) consists of a 5-8 minute episode where Tara Leigh Cobble explains the day’s readings, highlights key themes, and points to God’s character in the text with what she calls her “God Shot”. This plan is especially great for people new to reading the Bible and people who are short on time. Here are free resources for this plan: The Bible Recap Website Plan on the YouVersion App The Bible Recap PDF Checklist Podcast (YouTube) Podcast (Apple Podcasts) Facebook Page I pray this has been a blessing to you, Haley The Biblical Bookworm

Bible Reading Plan Series: Professor Grant Horner Bible Reading System

Image
Welcome to the start of my Bible Reading Plan Series!  In this post, we will look at the Professor Grant Horner Bible Reading System. WHAT IS THE HORNER BIBLE READING SYSTEM? In short, this plan is designed and created by Professor Grant Horner, a scholar and theologian, to help individuals read and engage with the Bible more deeply and comprehensively. The system divides the Bible into 10 distinct lists, each containing specific chapters from different books of the Bible. (This plan is also known as the 10 Lists Plan.) The goal with this reading system is to become familiar with the entirety of the Bible, and not to complete the Bible in one year.  HOW DOES IT WORK? You will read one chapter from each of the following lists per day: List 1 – Matthew, Mark, Luke, John (89 days) List 2 – Genesis-Deuteronomy (187 days) List 3 – Romans, 1-2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Hebrews (78 days) List 4 – 1-2 Thessalonians, 1-2 Timothy, Titus, Phile...
